Ahhh such a question! Well time would be nice – it’ll help me notice that the blog post I wrote in December didn’t go live!! And if I don’t have a chance to write a blog you’ll know that a lot of my time is going into helping the Miskatonic Playhouse productions. It’s the kind of project I’ve wanted to do for a while but didn’t know where to start. I’ve tried my hand at shows in the past as you’ll see if you scroll back through the twitter posts over at the Cosmic Outpost but I ended up doing all the work. Ideas, production, editing, promotion, website, a newsletter can all sound achievable when done one at a time but when one person does it all? That’s no fun. I’m glad to say at the Playhouse I’m part of a team that wants the best for everyone involved.
Sourcebooks for 2023? Well, I’m still waiting for 7th Edition Cthulhu by Gaslight to come out which I expect will be influenced by some of the mechanics of Regency. I hear from the December Modern Mythos Podcast this will be a two book set with a players and keepers hand book but also hear that the Players book is still being written and has not reached layout stage. That would leave the Keepers book to also be written so I can’t see Gaslight appearing in 2023. Mike Mason also mentioned Cthulhu for Outer space but I would suggest we’ll have people on the moon before that will be available! Not that waiting is a bad thing, I’d much prefer to have a good product than something rushed. And remember in the Miskatonic Repository you have a wealth of authors writing all kinds of settings for your investigators, I played ‘Space Cthulhu’ last year thanks “The Moving Star” from Marina D S Rodrigues
Games for 2023? – Pulp! More pulp. There’s something liberating about an investigator not dying due to an extreme dice roll, knowing that you can get back up. Don’t get me wrong, a character is not indestructible but I think the Pulp Cthulhu! book mentions that the ability to cheat death by using all your luck means folks will be more tempted to climb out on the wing of the bi-plane to save the day if they know they can fall off an have a miraculous landing! I’ve even made a start on writing my own Pulp adventure, something that I would want to enjoy as a player.
And for 2023, Blog writing as I mentioned! I’ve finished the entire Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign as a Pulp character and I want to tell you all about it, no big spoilers of course although the title gives the foe you have to face away on the front cover of the book so there will be some mention of game elements! I’ll tell you about who I would have in my party if I were to go through the game again, the sort of general situations that they will face and maybe how to keep track of what the hell is going on as this game can take many many sessions to complete!
So happy gaming for 2023 folks. As ever thanks for stopping by and in case you didn’t see it at the top links here are affiliate links to maybe support Roll4Sanity if you pick up one of the fine supplements mentioned in the blog!
