June Blog – 2025

As the weather warms up, I hope it’s comfortable and enjoyable wherever you are. Here at the Cosmic Outpost, it’s rather toasty, which is a nice segway into the image we have for June. At the top of this blog post, you’ll see a red-headed female warrior standing in front of a battlefield, with a castle in the background under a moody, dark sky. The image, though not the most detailed, impresses with its depiction of hands gripping an axe. This was created many months ago during the early stages of our AI development, and it presents a fantastically dramatic battle scene.

Production and Editing Updates

It’s been a quiet month for production and editing as the Cosmic Outpost has been relocation dimensions and moving everything without a gate spell was very confusing with lots of boxes to unpack! Today is the first time everything has been set up in a meaningful way. The content you’re seeing on our YouTube channels was created a few months ago but I have some nice images for the lower-class Victorian character video that I’ll be working on soon, with input from Keris McDonald, the writer of “Cthulhu by Gaslight.” It was great to meet Keris and even run her through a game of “Cthulhu by Gaslight” when she stopped by the Syrinscape stand at the UK Games Expo. If you’ve read that blog entry, you’ll know that only the Chaosium crew could defeat the monster in Cthulhu by being even more monstrous. Well done team!

Fast Talk and Upcoming Plans

We have another Fast Talk planned, though it’s ad hoc and not meant to be regular, even though I’ve managed to do it monthly so far! I’ll try to keep up the flow and hopefully feature someone I met at Chaosium Con. I haven’t asked them to be on the show yet, so I can’t say too much.

Games Played

The mainstay has been “Horror on the Orient Express.” No spoilers, but it’s been quite fun dealing with European folklore. As you know, on the Orient Express, you have to collect parts of something and take it across the continent for safekeeping. One of these parts appears in a very folklore-oriented setting. Our main fighter almost got taken out by a monster but ended up going insane instead. My doctor character managed to deal 21 points of damage with an extreme gunshot to the head of an adversary, which was rather satisfying as they had just stabbed my doctor for a major wound.

I’ve also been running a playtest of an alternative setting for a game company. It’s a different historical setting with some nice exploratory elements. We had fun with our characters being tougher than expected, dispatching a robber then later and cult members. When you book is released I shall let you know and hope you enjoy the fun to be had.

Conventions and Future Plans

We’re done with conventions for now. It was nice to see Chaosium in Australia and at other conventions in America. I’m not sure if I’ll make it to Dragon Con or Dragonmeet in London in November, but if you’re going, let me know what it’s like. I think Joseph from the Apocalypse Players will be going along as well as Maddy from “A game of one’s own” who was interviewed on the UK Game Expo Fast talk show.

That wraps up the June blog. Let’s turn the page and see what image July has in store. The next image features a private detective being greeted by a client. Thank you for reading the Roll4Sanity blog. Take it easy, and we’ll roll for sanity again soon.
