Well it seems like you sneeze and half the year has gone one minute it March next minute we’re bordering on August which is very peculiar ’cause I remember doing a blog for May and June but my how time flies.
We look at a wonderful AI generated image of a detective sitting in his office a femme fatale comes through the door I really like this one as the AI did he go job of the lighting coming through the door the different kind of lighting on the detective. A great Call of Cthulhu image if there ever was one.
Productions & Editing Update
July was marked by a me running for the Playhouse a Twitch Stream of “Shocking Sabotage,” a scenario by Derek Zimmer. This Pulp Cthulhu by Gaslight scenario is set in the electric with of the 1893 Worlds Fair where industrial espionage and the mythos collide creating body horror and Chaos! In a live stream the investigators, we were tasked with uncovering the truth behind these sabotages and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The live aspect of the production added an extra layer drive as you know you have folks watch so playing in front of a live audience is a performance as much as a game for me. You can catch the production on the Miskatonic Playhouse soon, or if you’re lucky, you might still find it on Twitch. Live productions come with their own set of challenges, especially with audience interactions. Going over the chat from the stream you hope you’re providing folks with an entertaining experience so after a weary night seeing negative comments even meant jest can really take away the fun you’ve just had. It’s why I tend to not do live streams.

The Editing has been a challenging so a huge shout out to Miranda / Doctor Stop Me Now for her incredible editing work the current playhouse production whilst I sort out the sounscape. It’s times like these when you truly appreciate the help and support you receive from others. For this production though, the Video Edit needs as much work as Mirand has out into the Audio edit! I was very glad that Steve / Tall halfling ran the tech for the Shocking Sabotage twitch stream for sure! Thanks you two!
And just as this blog is being written, the edit has started on the Playhouse Game we had at Chaosiumcon with amazing Mike Mason as we played “Mikemares”! Looking at the footage it was great to see that we have a good picture and good levels of sound which is a good starting place! Now we can concentrate in making it sound as best as it can as opposed to salvaging and acceptable level of badness as has happened before!
Adventures played
We are having fun on Eternal Lies the Trail of Cthulhu campaign where some eye opening things that we probably should have figured out earlier in the game! In the jungles of the Yucatan naturally there was a temple that we had to visit and what a fun temple of that was! No spoilers but it’s been a very different part of the game which will be a highlight for me as a wiseass New York paranormal writer go to use her smarts and be a scientist.
Over on the Orient express I had another great character moment. We had some investigator driven horror where let’s just say some creatures in a hotel room caused one of the party to loose and their eye fortunately my character being a doctor was able to save the eye and fortunately one of the party is an occultist who has a very special knife which allowed us all to chip in with our skills so the healthiness of our engineer the ingenuity of our librarian, the medical skill of our doctor and the occult magic of our occultist all managed to restore the eye to our engineer quite what he’ll see out of it we don’t know but it’s going to be fun finding out!
Conventions
Check out this video from Newman, Chair of the Council of Shoggoths.
The Miskatonic Repository Con is a free online convention where you get to play Call of Cthulhu, usually run by the writers of the adventure! So you get to experience how the writer thought it would be run.
And looking back at Chaosiumcon, we have had the feedback forms through to ask about what we thought. You’ve heard all about the fabulous people at Chaosiumcon in the Fast Talk episode we did and it was amazing to be a fan and meet all the people who make your favourite game. I would have like more show about the convention. The convention centre doesn’t really have a stage where we could have some music lights to make more of wow factor and have move events like Q&As and panels.I think there could be a little bit more effort with the food for the venue even if they bought in outside catering. I have to had gluten free for my magnificent BBQ feast it was a super long que for 2 chicken drumsticks an gluten free cheese burger. I was paying £12 extra for the BBQ I would want a little bit more than that. And for breakfast, the not quite orange juice / not quite orange squash drink was like an orange powdered drink which was not good. I hope the feedback is useful for Chaosium as the convention was a great start!

So wrapping up August time we’re going to be back on the Orient Express as we edge closer to the end of the line! I don’t think we’re going to finish up Eternal Lies but certainly we might get very close to the end. Moving the Calendar onto August we have a picture of an Old West prospector holding a rifle hiding behind some rocks on which is some dripping ooze. The sun is projecting the shadow of a monster as there is a face of horror is a upon the prospector. Thanks for reading and we’ll roll for sanity again soon.
