October is here and everybody is getting all excited about the Halloween parties and well Halloween in general almost like the antithesis of Christmas but hey whatever you like to enjoy. I can’t say that I’m much for Halloween myself but I do enjoy seeing all the crazy amount of horror things that people get up to. And there’s a little bit of horror in our image for the month – it detects it depicts a lone mythos investigator walking along a long dock next to a boat which is obviously of interest to him and on the deck of the boat there’s a number of bad looking goons watching his every move. The thing I love about this image was I didn’t expect it. As one of the earlier AI images I put together the way the fog hangs on the air, the lighting, the shadow cast down on the investigator – the reflections of the top of his hat as he looks down at the moon is casting his shadows. I think it’s a really captivating image that didn’t seem to rip off anyone style and I thought wow, AI images can be pretty good.
Productions & Editing
Well it was a hive of activity as I was doing the Miskatonic Repository convention where I was fortunate enough not to have a very good Internet connection so Miranda and Steve across the pond were able to take up the twitch duties. I just had the fun task of putting together the Syrinscape audio for Dead Beats the “council of shoggoths” game where, well no spoilers here at Roll4Sanity so let’s say council inspectors, music journalist, singers and an A&R Man and don’t do too well when things happen in the punk rock club. It was good fun putting together the sound sets and it’s brilliant when you get to perform the ounds. Strange but when you’re listing to the cues from the keeper (which rarely ever come) then play some sounds and get a little bit of ‘Ooo’ from the players that’s always nice.

Then on the editing side of things – I’m at the sounds again wrapping up the next Miskatonic Miskatonic Playhouse which is coming along when nicely but things will get in the way of editing like the Miskatonic Repositorycon. Also you heard it hear first folks, the Playhouse Series MR Whisper will be launching season two. And the Delta Green actual play I’m will also release at the end of October.
I’ve got in my notes headed mentioned the Fast Talk podcast and there will be one more Fast Talk and I’ll be flying solo and as a head up it’s going to be the last Fast Talk for a good while. I’ve enjoyed doing them this year but 2026 is going to be paradoxically just a little bit more chilled and busy and there’s something about the production of Fast Talk which is making it less than enjoyable for me produce and if it’s not enjoyable for me I don’t think that enjoyment comes across to the audience or the guest. Thanks to everyone whose be on the show. It’s been a blast!
Games Played
We had a couple of sessions on the Orient express more importantly the Dreamlands Express. Last time I was likening some of these adventure so computer side quests that you don’t really need to do. I was trying to explain, it it’s a bit like walking around the citadel in Mass Effect trying to meet somebody in a bar to say the right thing to them. But in these sessions we certainly got a good send off to the dreamland express with an action-packed ending whilst we were throwing our worries and concerns into the Gulf of Nodens. We’re now set to for the end of the campaign as we have got a couple of mandatory adventures left to go into Constantinople and wrap up the Orient express.

In the Berlin game in which I’m am playing, we had the enviable task of beating up a small child! I have to preface this by saying this is actually a shark creature but nevertheless looks like a 10 year old child small creature – that happily would have killed us given the chance! So we probably did the right thing beating it up and it gave us a good debate as a rules lawyer with the the keeper. It’s their game and can do what they like but it never hurts to explain how once you lose half your hit points, you cannot get killed in a single blow. The story goes thusly. Child has ten hit points he loses four of those hit points not a major wound. He then loses more hit points taking him below the threshold of his half his maximum hit points. He then takes another six points of damage which we would think that the kid to minus hit points killing the child but NO! Remember folks there is no such thing as minus hit points in call of Cthulhu. Sure if you eat a stick of dynamite and your character is blown up for 24 points of damage and you only have 10 hit points then yes there is an expectation that you have exceeded double your hit points and therefore you are instantly dead no major wounds, nothing. But in our case, with a child, once you pass half your hit points and reach zero on a different attack your character will fall unconscious! Track it through on the damage tracker and you will see the phrase Max hitpoints not half current hit points. I think this is a great as in Call of Cthulhu RPG you can have a good old fist fight and end up unconscious without dying!
So that’s a lot of words and rattling on in a blog! If you think this is long you listen to the December Fast Talk when it comes out! I will leave you to your Halloween enjoyment folks and turn the page to the next image for November and see a ghost hunter with a with a Pulp Cthulhu Ghost Detector and a ghost coming down the stairs behind them! Thanks for reading and we’ll roll for sanity again soon
